Many older audio/video components can be controlled via Infra-Red (IR). If these components are located near your central whole-house audio controller (models MC-66, MCA-66, Lync 6, and Lync 12), you can still control them with their IR remotes.
This is accomplished by pointing the IR remote at any IR “eye” located within the home. For MC-66 and MCA-66 systems, IR eyes are built into the KC6 and KC7 keypads. For Lync systems, you can connect an Infra-Red Panel (IRP) directly to any LyncTouch.
Whether or not you have keypads, you can always connect an IRP over a long length of Cat cable to a global IR port found on the back of each of our whole-house audio central controllers. Models MC-66 and MCA-66 require the adapter CBL-35MM3PIN sold below.
Signals received by an eye are passed to the central controller and repeated through IR emitters. IR emitters plug into the whole-house audio controller with the flashing "mouse" end positioned in front of IR eyes built into the components you'd like to control.
